HOPE

Picture

Light

Today we light the candle of peace. Peace can mean calm, tranquility, or no war.
Read Psalm 34:14, "Do good! Seek peace and go after it!"
As we light the candle of peace, may we think about how we have peace from God and how we can be peacemakers in our world.
Light or color the candle (light however many you need for this week)
Question: How can you seek peace and go after it? How does this relate to Jesus' birth?

Learn

Watch the video of the children's book, Roxaboxen by Alice McLerran.
Then, talk about these questions together:
  • Can people know peace when a piece of the community is missing?
  • What are some of your favorite ways to bring yourself some calm and peace?
  • How might this story relate to the Bible verse? (Psalm 34:14)

Do

  • Print out a copy of these flags of the world and create a garland for your Christmas tree. Use them as a reminder to pray for peace for our siblings around the world and to know how best to be peacemakers ourselves.
  • Listen to Waiting Songs by Rain for Roots on Spotify
  • Write a pray for peace and post it in a place where you can say it throughout the week.

Give

  • Collect non-perishable food or toiletry items and donate them to a local food pantry or organization. Call first to find out what they need the most.
