CHRISTMAS

Picture

Light

Today we light all the candles, including the Christ Candle in the center.
Read the Christmas story from Luke 2:1-20 in your favorite Bible or Story Bible.
On Christmas, we remember Jesus' birthday and how he brought hope, love, joy, and peace to all of us. Sing "Happy Birthday to Jesus" as you light or color all of the candles.
Question: What is your favorite part of the Christmas story?

Learn

Watch the video of the children's book, All the Colors of Christmas by Matthew Paul Turner.
Then, talk about these questions together:
  • What is your favorite color of Christmas? Why?
  • Where do you find hope, love, joy, and peace in this book?
  • How might this story relate to the Bible story of Jesus' birth? (Luke 2:1-20)

Do

  • The Christmas season begins today! Print a copy of prayer cards from Building Faith and put them on your kitchen table. Enjoy them together as a family as you celebrate all twelve days of Christmas.
  • Draw your own picture with your favorite colors and memories of Christmas.
  • If you have a child-friendly nativity at home, re-tell the story of Jesus' birth using the figures. Invite your child to re-tell it too!

Give

  • Give the gift of remembering to your family - take a photo of your family with a light or your Advent Wreath. As you share your picture, share the light of Christ. Print out your picture and pack it up with your Christmas decorations so when you open it next year, you can remember.
